David Pierce, a native of Mobile Alabama and graduate of UMS/Wright and the University of Alabama, started working with driftwood building and creating as a hobby. His hobby has now grown into a full time vocation. His artistic creativity in wood working comes naturally as his mother was an art teacher in Mobile and his great grandmother taught art in Paris and studies at the Louvre.
David's natural eye can find a piece of driftwood on the shores of the Gulf or a cove on the bay and see immediately the perfect mouth of a marlin or the neck of a pelican. His work includes sea life, coastal wildlife and home furnishings such as mirrors, consoles, and tables. You can find many of his pieces in shops around Fairhope, Orange Beach and Pensacola.
Having lived in several places throughout the Southeast, he and his wife moved to Orange Beach Alabama where he pursued his love of coastal living. With the growing demand for his art, David outgrew his Orange Beach shop and recently built a new studio in Fairhope Alabama where he now lives and works.
